My message and my preaching
were not with wise, persuasive words,
but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power.
-- 1 Corinthians 2:4

Shelby Humphreys: Dynamic, Outta-D-Box Speaker

I am available for lectures and personal growth workshops. I like to present material in a warm, accessible manner that both entertains and encourages people to seek a more authentic relationship with God and with themselves. Beyond simple podium-style speeches, I love to play with color, light, and sound to demonstrate the abundant life available to Christians when we follow God outside of the religious box.

Lecture Topics Include:

"7 Weird Things Christians Do"
A wry look at the religious querkiness which tends to stagnate our relationships with God. With uplifting tact and a firm, Biblical basis, Shelby explains why these habits are less effective than being true to the genuine motives behind them.

"Asking God Tough Questions"
An intimate portrayal of how asking tough questions, of God and ourselves, can lead to an addicting life-adventure that eclipses rote religion. With honest, poignant discussion, Shelby attempts to fracture religious apathy, dismantle the religious machinery of "us vs. them," and lead listeners into a more intimate relationship with God and themselves.

"Where the Heck is a Burning Bush When You Need It?"
A comical and heart-touching story of how Shelby quit her job for a higher calling and found, instead, an inner depth she had longed for her whole life. By sharing thoughts like: "God, why don't You use me?" "God, just tell me what You want and I'll do it." "Here I am, send me. No, seriously, here I am -- why aren't you sending me?", Shelby examines the evolution of purpose from "doing the stuff" to being enough.

"The Battles We Don't Have to Fight"
An unusual take on why some Christians are tired, bored, and frustrated. Most importantly, an ice-breaking call to rest in God (hint: it's anything but lazy).
